COMMON S.A Gas Meters (Quantometer, Turbine & Rotary)

CGT-02 Turbine Gas Meter
The CGT-02 turbine gas meters are flow meters designed to measure quantity of gases. The meters can be used for gas flow ranges from 5 up to 10 000 m3/h. The CGT-02 gas meters are applied in measurement systems where high accuracy is required:
- Transportation of natural gas
- Primary and secondary measurements
- Control metering of the natural gas and non aggressive technical gases in industry
- Flow measurement for technical purposes
The turbine gas meter measures the quantity of gas basing on the flow principle. The gas flows through an integrated flow conditioner, which distributes the flow proportionally in the annular slot and guides it to the turbine wheel. The wheel is driven by the gas flow, and the angular velocity of the rotation is proportional to the gas flow rate. The energy consumption, perceived as pressure loss, is reduced to absolute feasible minimum due to the application of the flow conditioner, highest precision ball barings, most accurate tolerances of all measuring parts and their proper alignement. The rotary motion of the turbine wheel is transferred mechanically by gear wheels, and the incorporated gas tight and hermetic magnetic coupling, to the index unit, which is mounted on the top of the body, and shows the operating volume on the totalizer.
The basic components of the CGT-02 turbine gas meter are as follows:
- Pressure resistant meter body
- Inlet flow conditioner
- Measuring cartridge with the turbine wheel
- Magnetic coupling as the transferring element between measuring cartridge and the index
- Index
- Lubricating system (some meters are provided with self lubricating bearings)
The meters are mainly used for measurements of combustible and inert gases.

INSTALLATION AND OPERATION RECOMMENDATIONS
- Meters should be shipped in their original package to the place of installation.
- Meters have to be handled with care and protected against falls, direct infl uence of rain, snow or high humidity.
- The measured gas should be clean, dry and free from solid impurities. It is recommended that the upstream pipe installation is to be equipped with a filter (10 micron).
- Prior to putting into operation in new installations, it is recommended to install a temporary cone sieve.
- Prior to installation the upstream and downstream pipe fl anges should be aligned properly.
- Flange gaskets are to be installed so as not to disturb the gas flow.
- The gas flow should be in accordance with the arrow placed on the meter body.
- The piping should be executed so as to avoid unnecessary stresses acting on the meter.
- When used outdoors the meter should be protected against direct weather infl uence.
- When starting the gas flow through the installation, the valves should be opened slowly to ensure a gradual increase of pressure.
ATTENTION! If valves are opened abruptly or pressure increase takes place in a short time it may happen that the measurement cartridge or the turbine wheel get damaged.
ALWAYS REMEMBER TO START UP THE METERS IN A PROPER WAY!
The research and development program is being continued by COMMON S.A. Technical specifications and construction may change due to improvements.

ACCESSORIES

COGUSB-03 Optical Transmission Interface
The COGUSB-03 Optical Transmission Interface is designed to enable data transmission between the device inside the explosion hazard zone (e.g. CMK-02 Volume Corrector) and non-EX device equipped with USB port outside explosion hazard zone (e.g. laptop). Data transmission is based on two infrared diodes, one for sending and the other receiving data. Interface head should be placed on the OPTO-EYE port located in the read out device. Permanent magnet inside the head activates the superior port which allows to perform the transmission.
Transmission speed is up to 38400 baud. The interface consists of three parts:
- Head (aluminium casing) with OPTO-GAZ port and permanent magnet
- Status adapter with RxD and TxD diodes
- USB plug
The COGUSB-03 Optical Transmission Interface is dedicated for all computers without a hardware COM port. Appliance needs a driver to be installed. Application is built up to open the same COM port regardless of used socket.

Top Hat filters (cone type)
Top Hat Filters (Temporary strainers) are designed for use during the commissioning or start-up period of installation. They protect the control equipment in the system from dirt, debris and any other foreign bodies that may pass through a new system. The Top Hat Filter is added to a new system at the time of installation and removed after the system has been cleansed. Top Hat Filters are easy to fit and are located between the mating flanges in the pipeline – If you are adding a Commissioning filter to a vertically installed meter, we recommend adding a filter to both the inlet and outlet.
Connection Size – 50-150mm

Three-way valve CKMT DN4
The CKMT DN4 three-way valve is used in petrochemical industry installations, in gas measurement systems and other installations. It can be used in rooms with a risk of explosion of vapors and gases of the A, B, C explosion groups, in group II of explosion-proof devices.

CGZW Single Chamber Orifice Flowmeter
The CGZW Orifice Flowmeters are designed for volume measurement of flowing gas, and may be used for the following purposes:
- custody transfer measurements of flowing gas,
- flow measurements in transmission and distribution gas pipelines,
- control measurements of flowing gas
The operating principle is based on the pressure drop caused by a contraction. Basing on the differential pressure of the flow the gas volume may be determined.
The CGZW Flowmeters are manufactured as single chamber fittings with removable orifice plate, and appropriate meter tubes. The fitting construction enables to access the orifice plate easily and quickly for inspection and replacement. lt is not necessary to disassemble and spread flanges. One of characteristic features of the CGZW Flowmeters is easy control of leakages around the orifice plate.
