Application of the device
Adhesion tester CM-4219 is a device for measuring the adhesion value of bitumen pipe insulation and other insulating coatings which are based on bitumen. Adhesion tester CM-4219 is a mechanical device which allows to determine the adhesion value of quality and quantity, by measuring the strength of sticking the bitumen insulation to the surface of the pipeline.
Adhesion tester of bitumen insulation allows user to take measurements during testing; planned inspections of steel structures and pipelines after their installation, and also after performing the repairs in order to identify defects during the application of the insulation, as well as for the subsequent monitoring of the quality of performed works. The device has been successfully used in the “field” and in the laboratory (workshop) conditions.
Design of the device
Structurally device complies to the standards and consists of the system of rods, which are connected by a calibrated spring. The device is to be installed on pre-prepared section of the pipeline (or metal construction) with a cut-out portion of the polymer coating and after turning the handle, the force is applied by the calibrated spring. During applying of the load, the device measures displacement of the rod. The value on the scale, which is installed on the device, converts into the shearing force and determines the adhesion value of the bituminous coating.
Measurements
The adhesion value of the insulating coatings is characterized by shearing force for a part of isolation of 1 cm2. Testing with adhesion tester CM-4219 is performed in the following way: on the area 10 * 10 mm. of the covering insulation performed incision throughout its entire thickness. After the device is installed on the cover and abuts the blade to the end face of the formed area 10 * 10 mm. By turning the handle, the spring is compressed and applies the predetermined force to the knife, which transmits the shear deformation to the platform of cover. The strength of adhesion of the coating resists against the applied force. User should apply the force till occur the discontinuity (disruption) of coating area. The maximum value of testing is displayed on the scale of the device and fixed as the value of adhesion of the coating. The measurements are to be done at three different points, which are located at least 50 cm. from each other. The value of adhesion is the arithmetic average of three measurements.

Viscosity Flow Cup NOVOTEST VZ
An important parameter of lubricants, paints and other liquids is viscosity. This parameter characterizes the ability of materials to resist the movement of one part relative to another. Viscosity Flow Cup NOVOTEST VZ is a device for determining the conditional viscosity of Newtonian fluids.
Also for express testing of hot liquids or monitoring the state of the liquid in operation, there is a Viscosity Flow Cup submersible type
The method for determining the conditional viscosity using a viscosity flow cup is to measure the time the paint expands through the nozzle of the tank. To do this, close the nozzle and fill the cup with paintwork material, then use the glass to remove excess (into a special groove in the upper part of the cup), so that exactly 100 cm3 of material will be in the tank. After opening the nozzle, the outflow of material will begin, it is important to measure the time from the beginning to the end of the expiration of the paint material. Knowing the expiration time of the material, it is possible to determine the conditional viscosity by empirical formulas, graphs and tables.
For ease of use, Viscosity Flow Cup NOVOTEST VZ can be equipped with a special stand, it used for adjustment the level and height of the cup.

Viscosity Dip Cup NOVOTEST VZ-P
Viscosity Dip Cup NOVOTEST VZ-P is used for the rapid testing of the conditional viscosity of a large batch of products where it is necessary to evaluate viscosity as quickly as possible. It can also be used for liquids in use (oil baths of moving parts), hot liquids and others, where the use of Viscosity Cup in the standard version may be difficult.
The method for determining the conditional viscosity using a viscosity cup is to measure the time the paint (or other liquid) expands through the nozzle of the tank.
The measurement is carried out by immersing the device into the material, and measuring the time of expiration of the material through a specific nozzle. With this method, the measurement accuracy is degraded, in comparison with the standard type of device, but the speed of testing is significantly increased.

Viscosity Dip Mug NOVOTEST VMS
Viscosity Dip Mug is used to determine the convectional viscosity of the dispersion polyvinyl-acetate homopolymers coarse dispersion.
The device is a cylindrical brass vessel with a handle and three orifices, two of them are located at the lateral wall of the cylinder (by manual – lateral orifices), and the third – at the centre of the base (base orifice).
Conventional viscosity using the standard viscosity mug is to be determined at (20 ± 2) ° C. The dispersion need to be thoroughly mixed, and poured a full mug. Than lift it and watch the level of the dispersion. When the dispersion level in the viscosity mug decreases and opens the upper lateral orifice – start the stopwatch. The stopwatch is to be stopped at that moment when the dispersion comes to the level of the lower lateral orifice. The viscosity index is definite by the time (in seconds) that takes the dispersion to lower the level from the upper lateral orifice to the lower lateral orifice. The result of the testing is the average value of three parallel testing (the discrepancy between of them should not exceed 10%).

Coating Thickness Gauge NOVOTEST TP-1M
The device is very easy to use, ready to use right out of the box, and does not require special user skills. The minimum number of buttons and an intuitive menu makes it an ideal device of operational non-destructive measurement of the thickness of almost any coating with high accuracy.
The main advantages and tasks that can be solved with Coating Thickness Gauge NOVOTEST TP-1M:
MEASUREMENT OF ELECTROPLATING ON STEEL
The most common task that is successfully solved by the device. Typically, coating measurements in the range of 0 to 500 μm require high accuracy; for these purposes, a coating thickness gauge complete with an F-0.5 probe is ideal. Also, for measuring the thickness of coatings on small, radius products, or in grooves, it is possible to use a specialized probe F-0.3.
MEASUREMENT OF COATINGS ON NON-FERROUS METALS
To measure the thickness of coatings on non-ferrous metals, the NF-2 probe is used, which allows user to measure coatings in the range from 0 to 2 mm. By default, the NF-2 probe calibration is performed for aluminum, if the task is to measure the coating on materials significantly different in properties from aluminum, the probe can be calibrated by user itself.
MEASURING DIELECTRIC COATINGS ON STEEL
For measuring paintwork coatings, polymers and other dielectric coatings in the range up to 5 mm, probes F-2 and F-5 are suitable, which will provide a testing range of up to 2 or 5 mm, accordingly. As with any measuring instrument: the wider the range, the higher the error, so the user, when choosing a probe, should be guided by this principle to select the best option.
MEASUREMENT OF COATINGS UP TO 60 MM (60 000 μm)
To measure very thick coatings on any metals (steel or non-ferrous metals) – probes M-12, M-30 and M-60 are used, which provide measuring ranges up to 12, 30 and 60 mm, accordingly. This can be bitumen insulation, a coating of polymer tapes, or some specific task of measuring the main thickness of the material, where ultrasonic waves can’t be used due to large attenuation in the material, inhomogeneity or multilayer material.
SPECIALIZED PROBES
Measurement of groove depth and roughness. The DSH probe allows user to evaluate roughness, measure the depth of corrosion, surface defects and grooves. To determine the roughness, it is necessary to perform a series of measurements on the surface of a small area, and then using the formula to calculate the desired value.
Measurement of temperature, humidity and dew point. Using the DTVR probe, it is possible to measure humidity and air temperature, on the basis of which the device calculates the dew point, which is very important to know before applying the paint to the base.
Surface temperature measurement. Using the DT probe, the surface temperature is measured by the contact method.
DESIGN
The device is made in an ergonomic enclosure, which is equipped with a silicone cover, which makes the electronic unit of the device shockproof. Also, the device is resistant to extreme temperatures, and can be used at temperatures from -20 to +40 ° C.
- Large thickness measurement range
